mail - Junk mail!
If you would like to stop receiving (junk) mail that is not addressed
to you, either ring 08457 740740, or email: optout@royalmail.com,
At the time of writing (August
2006) the service is receiving an unprecendented number of requests
because of the publicity surrounding the suspended postman who 'advertised'
the service on his rounds. Will they dare to sack him?! RM will now
only stop the 'door to door' deliveries on receipt of a completed form
which you will receive by email if you contact them that way. The text
accompanying the form warns of 'consequences' such as not receiving
important goverment literature. But the independent consumer body Postwatch
described the threat - which angry customers say is blackmail - as 'completely
untrue'.
Apparently they will not accept
the form back by email. They require that it is posted. I can't see
why a stamp should be neccessarythough as they are legally obliged to
deliver it and can collect the charge from themselves. You might feel
that you may as well write in the first place. Here is the address:
Door to Door Opt Out, Royal
Mail, Kingsmead House, Oxpens Road, Oxford, OX1 1RX.
